Some music and the sounds of nature like wind or water take me in to a realm beyond words.

Yes! I went to the seaside a few nights ago for the first time in years and the sound of the waves took me somewhere else for a bit.

Thanks for the words, Vaishali.

What do you mean "...reality chooses to manifest.'?

Hi Damien, I was referring to the idea that the forms of creation are not arbitrary or random, they reflect something deeper or higher (which is the force that animates them). In the tantric view, the universe comes into being out of a desire to experience and be experienced. In some sense it is choosing to in-carnate in the forms we see, because they mean something. Each form encapsulates and communicates some fragment of the universal, essential reality through its appearance. You can trace appearance (forms) back to unmanifest reality (emptiness), or follow reality (emptiness) down into manifestation (forms). It's hard to explain but I hope that makes sense?

Is the choosing to incarnate conscious or unconscious?

Good question :) I think mostly unconscious, except perhaps when we're in the midst of creating something—then we participate in the flow of creation and make it conscious. That's what the practice is about in the end.
